Dear
friends, the door of salvation is simple. It is not about doctrine. It's not
about having the right knowledge or the amount of knowledge in the mind. The
door of salvation is the cross of Jesus where we die with Him on that cross, we
need to go through repentance. And one obstacle to people to come to repentance
is that they don't recognize their true state of sin and death. That is why a
lot of people never come to Jesus. They can go to church. Yes, they can do a
lot of religious things. They can even pray. They can do a lot of Bible
studies, but unless they go through repentance, there will be no salvation.
The
first step towards repentance, dear friends, is to recognize that we are
wretched sinners, that we need the salvation of God, that we need a savior. This
is the first step, yet many people today don't want to even acknowledge that. They
don't want to acknowledge that deep down we are evil. We are evil, rebellious
creatures, selfish creatures. And that is why they never come to repentance.
They never realized how bankrupt they are in front of this Holy God, this is
extremely important. This is the most important thing for anyone to start their
road towards salvation.
Dear
friend, do you know that you are bankrupt before this Holy God? Do you know how
holy He is? How righteous He is? Do you know how many times we have offended
Him? You need to recognize your true state. From there you will realize that
you need the mercy of God. Then you will find Jesus if you keep seeking.
Then
Jesus will show you what He did for you personally on the cross. Then you will
realize how good He is, how loving He is, how sacrificial He is. Do you know, dear
friend, how important that is? Do you know your true state of sin? Come to
Jesus, recognize your sins, your wretched state. Repent, come to Him, plead
with Him, and cry out to Him so that He forgives your sins through the blood
that He shed for you personally on the cross.
