I want to read to you something
that Jesus taught about covetousness from Luke chapter12: Then one from the
crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with
me.” But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”
And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does
not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”Jesus also said to
seek first the Kingdom of God, and to store up for ourselves treasures there,
where moth and rust will not destroy. Where thieves cannot break in and steal. Because
where our treasure is, there our heart is also. We have to beware of storing up
treasures here on this earth, as the men of this world do. Is our treasure
really in heaven? And are we pursuing things that are really important like the
love of God, having true peace in our hearts, self-control? Do we strive after
the things that God wants for us? Or do we just adorn ourselves on the outside?
May the grace of Jesus be with you.
